🌍 Project TransFrance: The Route Revealed! 🏃🇫🇷🇩🇪
After months of planning, refining, and visualizing every step, I’m beyond excited to finally share the official route for Project TransFrance — my solo, self-supported run across the entire breadth of France. This journey will cover over 1,000 kilometers, averaging 60 kilometers per day, and will take me from the rugged coast of Brittany all the way to the Black Forest in southern Germany.
📍 Route Overview
Start: Roscoff, Brittany – A windswept port town on the northwestern coast of France, steeped in maritime history.
Finish: Gundelfingen, Germany – Nestled at the edge of the Black Forest near Freiburg, where France hands off to Germany in one seamless stride.
Distance: 1,000+ km
Duration: ~17 days
Average Daily Distance: ~60 km
Total Ascent: Enough to humble legs and elevate perspective
This is not a straight line — it’s a living, breathing route that snakes through rural heartlands, river valleys, forests, and mountain trails, avoiding major cities to stay connected to nature and the quiet rhythm of the land.
I chose this west-to-east crossing for its contrast and symbolism: from the Atlantic winds of Brittany to the borderlands of the Black Forest. It represents a deep internal journey as much as a physical one — a movement across cultures, terrains, and personal thresholds.
Along the way, I’ll pass through:
- The wild granite coastlines of Brittany
- Rolling farmland in the Loire and central regions
- Dense forests of eastern France
- Quiet backroads and forest trails into southwestern Germany
Each day will bring new terrain, new challenges, and new stories.
🎒 Self-Supported and Simplified
Everything I need is on my back — no crew, no luxury. Just grit, curiosity, and the essentials. I’ll rely on small-town boulangeries, local kindness, and my own two feet to keep moving forward. This is about stripping life down to what matters most.
💭 What Project TransFrance Means to Me
This run is a personal pilgrimage — a challenge of mind, body, and soul. It’s a way to reconnect with nature, embrace discomfort, and find meaning through motion. I’m drawn to the simplicity of moving forward, step after step, until countries change and the horizon bends.
I’ll be sharing updates, insights, and maybe the occasional blisters along the way. Expect raw moments, honest reflections, and glimpses into what it means to let go of comfort and run into the unknown.
